NYPD Red 7 : The Murder Sorority (NYPD Red Series, Book 7)

Marshall Karp is back with another installment of the NYPD Red series. And this time, he’s writing solo without James Patterson. Detectives Kylie MacDonald and Zach Jordan are at the courthouse waiting to hear the verdict in the Hellman case. Warren Hellman is a scumbag filmmaker who deserves the book, but instead of being charged, he walks. Not far, however, as he is shot while exiting the courthouse. At the same time, his brother Curtis is killed as well. What Kylie and Zach uncover is a group of older men, all ex-military, who are called the Murder Society. Each member has a specific skill set. Each one deadly. Their ops are arranged and led by someone named Mother.

The characters, setting, and action are all excellent in this book. The relationship between Kylie and Zach shows they have a history and often double-date with one another. The introduction of a young man named Theo also creates a side story that I hope will be continued in the next NYPD Red book. The action is exciting, and as the story comes to a close, there are twists and turns that are unbelievably satisfying for any fan of crime thrillers. Karp does an excellent job of carrying on the NYPD Red series.
